WCAG 3 September 2025 Update

WCAG 3 Update Accessibility Guidelines Working Group & Thoughts from the Co-Chairs

The Accessibility Guidelines Working Group (AG) has updated the W3C Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 3 Working Draft. This update is a first step towards publishing a full draft at the Developing level. In this draft, the AGWG has moved many guidelines, requirements and assertions to Developing. Those that are still Exploratory have been kept in the Editor’s draft

When you review this draft, please keep in mind that this is a partial list of draft Guidelines, Requirements and Assertions. This content can and will change.

As always, please start your review by reading the WCAG 3 Introduction. You will also find About this draft in WCAG 3 helpful.

The question everyone is likely asking is “When will WCAG 3 be complete?”  We are working towards a schedule that will be available at the end of this year or early next year along with the next publication. You can follow the WCAG 3 Timeline for more detailed updates.

If this is the first post from the co-chairs you’ve read, the more detailed post from last December may also be helpful.
